Contrast is quite prevalent in those who suffer from constipation problems, because it contains a lot of fibber.
However, a new study by the University of Liverpool, is to prove that consumption of prunes as part of a balanced diet helps in losing more body weight.
Specifically, the researchers collected data on 100 overweight / obese people to see if prunes would help the diet program that followed for a period of three months.
The theory that they wanted to prove was that the prunes would make participants feel more satiated for longer, reducing thus their appetite for food.
They divided the participants into two groups: one ate prunes in diet and the other not.
They found that members of the first group lost an average of 2 pounds and reduced the circumference of the body at 2.5 cm at 3 months of the program.
On the other hand, members of the second group lost 1.5 pound and 1.7 cm on circumference of the body on average.
