In 1975 and after hard work, restless George created his own dried fruits workshop, equipped with a small oven.
As an outcome of his focusing on growing and drying of prunes, the production continued to grow, resulting in the construction of two more charcoal furnaces that operated 24 hours a day.
In 1982 and while production was increasing steadily, George Apostolidis traveled to France seeking modern equipment to meet the growing demands of production. Thus, the first vibration energy harvesting machine became a reality.
Being ambitious, he didn’t stop there. Having acquired a taste of French philosophy and know-how on the cultivation and exploitation of plums, in 1983 he joined a development program (Law 1262) , for the establishment of a dried plums industry, modernizing the traditional mode of operation.
Later, in April 1984, came an honorary award from the Minister of Agriculture at the time Costas Simitis, for the increasing cultivation of plum trees as well as the standardization, drying and marketing of plums.
In 1992 there was a decrease in production and after thorough inspection, it was found that the trees had been infected with a virus. Attempts such as adding new trees were made to solve the problem, but the situation was irreversible. So in August 2001, the definitive cessation of company’s activity was decided.
But this was not enough to extinguish the flame of optimism and to prevent the evolution of our vision. Thus, in 2013 there has begun a vigorous attempt to restart the company with all necessary checks and certified new trees from France.
Today, the third generation of the Apostolidis family hopes in a strong comeback of the company and the continuation of tradition. Throughout this effort, the previous generation of the family will be an ally and helper, with its experience and expertise.
